History of the Practice

ABOUT THE PRACTICE

Blue Rock Corporation Dispute Resolution Practice was born from a vision to bridge the gap between rigid legal processes and practical, relationship-focused resolutions. Founded by Moses Isa Mulauzi, the practice evolved from his extensive work in humanitarian law and governance reform across Southern Africa.

Initially focused on specialized legal consulting, the firm expanded to include a comprehensive suite of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) services in response to the growing need for efficient, private, and cost-effective conflict management in the South African market.

Today, Blue Rock Corporation Dispute Resolution Practice stands as a pillar of integrity in the ADR landscape, serving multinational corporations, SMEs, families, and public sector entities with the same dedication to justice and fairness that defined its founder’s early career in the United Nations.

Myths About ADR in South Africa

The Reality : Many believe ADR outcomes are merely suggestions. In truth, Arbitration awards are legally binding and enforceable, carrying the same weight as a High Court order. Settlement agreements reached in Mediation can also be made orders of court.
The Reality : ADR is the preferred method for resolving multi-million rand commercial contracts, complex construction disputes, and sensitive labour matters. It is a robust system designed for high-stakes conflict.
The Reality : Participating in ADR does not strip you of legal rights. It offers a structured, fair, and often more legally compliant process than litigation, with the added benefit of privacy and speed.
The Reality : ADR in South Africa is governed by the Arbitration Act, the Labour Relations Act, and the Constitution itself. Practitioners adhere to strict codes of conduct and procedural standards.
